E: The creative endeavour follows the idea of reduction. Reduction as the foundation, the elementary, exemplary and as a matter of principle. The qualities of reduction result from condensing the complex and complicated to the essential. Reduction is the contrary of decoration and not arbitrary. Reduction emerges through a process, requires duration and is sustainable. Reduction implies both content and visual concentration.

The focus of the work includes the design of visual identities, the development of orientation and communication systems and editorial processes. Typography is a central field of interest and is both a means of communication and creative expression.

Independent designer since 1997. From 1998 to 2006, time abroad in Berlin. Freelance designer for the publishing house Die Gestalten Verlag, among others. 2007 founded the Binnenland type foundry together with Niklaus Thönen. From 2009 lecturer at the Schule für Gestaltung Biel-Bienne and at the University of the Arts Bern. Since 2010 co-organiser of the lecture series Afterwork Lectures at the University of the Arts Bern.

D: Das gestalterische Bestreben folgt dem Gedanken der Reduktion. Reduktion als das Fundament, das Elementare, Exemplarische und Prinzipielle. Reduktion ist konsistent und geht aus einer Rückführung des Komplexen und Komplizierten auf das Wesentliche hervor. Reduktion ist das Gegenteil von Dekoration und nicht beliebig. Reduktion entsteht durch einen Prozess, benötigt Zeit und ist von Dauer. Reduktion bedeutet inhaltliche als auch visuelle Konzentration. 

Die Ausrichtung der Arbeit umfasst die Gestaltung von visuellen Identitäten, Entwicklung von Systemen zur Orientierung und Kommunikation oder editorialer Prozesse. Typografie bildet dabei zentrales Interesse, ist Kommunikationsmittel als auch Gegenstand der gestalterischen Ausdrucksweise zugleich.

Seit 1997 freischaffender Designer. 1998 bis 2006 Auslandaufenthalt in Berlin. Unter anderem tätig für den Die Gestalten Verlag als freier Mitarbeiter. 2007 Gründung des Schriftenlabels Binnenland zusammen mit Niklaus Thönen. Ab 2009 Unterrichtstätigkeiten an der Schule für Gestaltung Biel-Bienne sowie an der Hochschule der Künste Bern. Seit 2010 Mitorganisator der Vortragsreihe Afterwork Lectures an der Hochschule der Künste Bern
